April Home To Do List

Repair or replace damaged or broken screens.

While you’re checking those screens wash winter’s grime off your windows, inside and out.

Give your home a visual spring checkup. Examine the roof (its life span is 10-15 years). Look for signs of deterioration: curling or missing roof shingles, grit washing off shingles in a rainstorm, interior leaks. Check siding and fascia boards (they hold gutters) for splitting or rotting wood. Is paint chalking, bubbling, peeling ro discolored? Is concrete cracked? Is masonry pulling away from the sides of the house? Look for signs of moisture (mildew, mold, white streaks on cinderblock) or places where moisture can get in to cause settling and rot or attract termites. Arrange for repairs as needed.

Clean and seal wooden decks and steps.

Have your lawn mower tuned. Check over your other power lawn tools, following all the manufacturer’s warnings for personal safety.
